Catherine Piscitelli

Catherine G. Piscitelli, age 74, of Washington Street, Salamanca, New York died late Saturday afternoon, May 16, 2009 at Olean General Hospital following a long illness.

Born January 30, 1935 in Bradford, Pa. she was the daughter of the late Michael and Zella Thornton Thomas. She was married in St. Bernard’s Church in Bradford, Pa. on August 6, 1955 to Anthony Piscitelli who survives.

Mrs. Piscitelli was employed as the dietary supervisor with the former Salamanca Nursing Home for over 15 years retiring in 1994. She had also been employed at the former Salamanca District Hospital.

She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish (St. Patrick’s Worship Site) and the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post #535 Ladies Auxiliary where she served as past president. She was an avid reader who enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family.

Surviving besides her husband are: 2 daughters, Sarah (Sean) Welch, Kelso, Washington, Lisa (Thomas) Rettberg, Salamanca, New York; 2 sons, Michael (Louise) Piscitelli, Matthew Piscitelli, both of Salamanca, New York; 8 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a twin sister, Margaret Armstrong.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Wednesday from 12:00 noon to 4:15 P.M. at which time funeral services will be held with Deacon Michael Anderson, of Our Lady of Peace Parish, officiating.
