Catherine T. Vecchiarella

Catherine T. Vecchiarella, 89, of Salamanca, New York died Thursday evening, January 30, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, New York.

Born June 3, 1924 in Salamanca, New York, she was the daughter of the late Rocco and Dominica Oliverio. She was married to Mr. Benny Vecchiarella, who predeceased her on June 5, 1987.

She was employed as a Crossing Guard for the Salamanca Police Department for forty-four years prior to her retirement.

She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish.

Surviving are: 2 sons, Carmen Vecchiarella, Salamanca, NY, Vincent Vecchiarella, Dunkirk, NY; 1 daughter, Victoria Vecchiarella, Buffalo, NY; 4 grandchildren, Aimee Siperek, Carmen Vecchiarella Jr., both of Salamanca, NY, Alexia Zimmerman, of Buffalo, NY, Samuel Zimmerman, New York City, NY; 3 great-grandchildren, Ellen Siperek, Indigo Wells, both of Salamanca, NY, Michael Deuschle, West Seneca, NY; 3 brothers, Joseph (Donna) Oliverio, Vincent (Angela) Oliverio, all of Salamanca, NY, Anthony (Nettie) Oliverio, Reno, NV; 1 sister, Jan Robbins, West Valley, NY; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by 1 brother, Cosmo Oliverio.

Friends may attend a memorial visitation at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 4 - 7 p.m.

A Memorial Mass will be held in Our Lady of Peace Parish on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor, as celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the St. Jude Center, 760 Ellicott Street, Buffalo, NY 14203.
