Charles E. Toennies

Mr. Charles E. Toennies, age 92 , of Jacksonville, Arkansas, formerly of Salamanca, New York died Tuesday (June 10, 2008) at Woodland Hills N. Hospital, Jacksonville, Arkansas.

Born on February 20, 1916 in Salamanca, New York he was the son of the late Charles A. and Pauline Ostricker Toennies. On September 28, 1940 in St. Patrick's Church, Vandalia, New York he married the former Margaret Connell who survives.

Mr. Toennies was employed in the Security/Maintenance Department at the former Fancher Furniture Company prior to his retirement.

Surviving besides his wife are: 2 sons, James (Barbara) Toennies, Erie, Pa and Donald (Debbi) Toennies, Jacksonville, Arkansas; 7 grandchildren, Theresa Baginski, Sally Bullers, Marti Halsauer, Matthew Toennies, Daniel Toennies, , James E. Toennies, Tammy Kwole; 14 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by 1 daughter, Shirley N. Toennies and two sisters, Barbara Toennies Clark. Evelyn Toennies Smith;

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of Peace (St. Patricks) with the Rev. Piotr Zaczynski, pastor as celebrant

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.
