Charles Fluent
Mr. Charles R. Fluent, age 59, of Melinda Drive, Salamanca, New York died unexpectedly March 19, 2010 at his home.
Born on January 6, 1951 he was the son of Charles Fluent, Killbuck, New York and the late Alice Mighells Fluent. He was married to the late Cheri Blaske Fluent who predeceased him in 2009.
Mr. Fluent was a graduate of Salamanca High School 1969, received a Bachelor’s Degree from Fredonia State College and his Master’s Degree from St. Bonaventure University Suma Cum Laude. He was a decorated Vietnam Veteran with the United States Army Green Beret and former prisoner of war.
Mr. Fluent walked across country to raise money for the VFW National Children’s Home located in Eaton Rapids, Michigan. He performed a second walk across country for victims of September 11.
Mr. Fluent was an adopted member of the Sioux Indian Nation and performed their Sun Dance Ceremony on several occasions.
Surviving besides his father are: a daughter, Jody (Michael) Taborski, Cedar Lake, Indiana; 2 sons, Bradley Fluent, Erie, PA and Scott Fluent, Jamestown, NY; 3 brothers, Thomas Fluent, Joseph (Sandy) Fluent, Allegany, New York, Michael (Carol) Fluent, Salamanca, New York; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 to 11 am. A memorial service will immediately follow with the Rev. Marvin Abrams officiating.
Full military graveside services will be conducted by members of the American Legion Hughes Skiba Post#535.
Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Bath, New York.
