Chester S. Barczak
Chester S. Barczak, age 85, of Salamanca, New York, died Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the Absolute of Salamanca, Salamanca, New York following a brief illness.
Born December 12, 1927 in Salamanca, New York, he was the son of the late Andrew and Mary Tomasik Barczak. On October 14, 1950 in Salamanca, he married the former Nancy Wagner, who predeceased him on December 3, 1984.
Mr. Barczak was retired from the Chessie System Railroad. He also previously owned and operated the Meadows Restaurant and Ches-Bar. Mr. Barczak joined the U.S. Navy in 1945 and served his country on the USS Rogers for three years.
He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, Veterans Foreign War John Ahrens Post 5296; past members of BPO Elks Lodge 1025, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1002, Kiwanis, Holy Cross Club, and a member of Elkdale Country Club since 1951.
He is survived by: a son, Mark Barczak, Salamanca, New York; two daughters; Maureen Kohl, Olean, New York, Sharon Zetts, Sarasota, Florida; four grandchildren, Melissa Barczak, Dawn (Thomas) Hogan, Michael Barczak and Jeremy Zetts; a sister, Rita DeBellis, Rochester, New York; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Ted Barczak, Joseph Barczak, and two sisters, Cecelia Dry and Natalie Ambuske.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Peace Parish at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Family suggests memorials to the Elkdale Country Club or to the donor's choice.
