Christine Wachter

Christine Ann Wachter, 64 passed away on June 26th, 2010 after a prolonged, valiant fight with Leukemia. Formerly of Salamanca NY and Franklinville, NY, Christine was surrounded by her loving family at her home in Harmony, FL.

Born June 17th, 1946 in Salamanca, NY, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Mary Koniak Speroni. Christine graduated from Salamanca High School in 1964. After graduation, she met and later married Richard M. Wachter on May 27th, 1967 at the former St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Salamanca, NY.

After living in multiple outposts around the globe while Richard was in the service, she would spend the next two decades following her lifelong dream of raising her family. Nothing fulfilled her more than watching her two sons, Joseph Patrick and Brian Richard, grow in the loving home created and maintained by Christine. Her continual desires to nurture and care for others prompted Christine to pursue and obtain an associates degree in nursing from Jamestown Community College in 1991. As a Registered Nurse, she greatly cared for all her patients as a Nursing Supervisor at the Cattaraugus County Nursing Home in Machias, NY.

Upon their retirements, she and Richard built and resided in their dream house in Harmony, FL. She loved caring for her plants, exploring the vast natural treasures that her surroundings provided and taking walks with her treasured dogs. A devout Catholic and active parishioner of Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in St. Cloud, FL, Christine’s faith provided her strength during her courageous battle. More than anything, Christine cherished her time spent with her entire extended family.

She leaves behind loving memories with her beloved and devoted husband of 43 years, Richard; her adored sons Joseph and wife Lori and Brian and wife Traci. She was the adored grandmother of Kayleigh, Gabriel, Lucas and Ethan. She is also survived by her brother Victor and sister-in law Josephine Speroni; sister Nancy Speroni; brother Peter Speroni; brother Joseph and sister-in law Kathleen Speroni; and sister Mary Kay Bocciolatt.
