Clara Jones

Clara Jones, age 91, of 28 Chestnut Street, Salamanca, New York died Monday, January 19, 2009 at the Absolut of Salamanca, New York.

Born on August 15, 1917 in Salamanca, New York she was the daughter of the late Edward and Lucinda Henderson Jones.

Miss Jones retired from the former outdoor store in Salamanca, New York. Previously she was employed at the former Ben Franklin Store, Woolworths and Rexall Drug Store, and Curtiss Wright Aircraft Manufacturing during WWII.

She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews, and was interested in Civil War history.

Surviving are: 3 sisters, Martha Jones, 17 Cricks Place, Salamanca, New York, Anna (Ron) Howard, 15 Cricks Place, Salamanca, New York, Helen Coleman, 28 Chestnut Street, Salamanca, New York; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by 2 brothers, LeRoy Jones, Harold D. Jones, a sister, Elizabeth Gibbs.

There will be no visitation.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday (January 31, 2009)at 11:00 A.M. in the 1st Baptist Church with Tim Griffith officiating.
