Crissi Verros

On the fifteenth of March 2017, Crissi Verros of Salamanca passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.

Crissi was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Chris Alex Verros, of Salamanca. She later was the companion of the late Paul (PJ) Jonethis of Jamestown. Crissi was the loving Mother of her three surviving children, a daughter Alexis Wright (and her late husband Jim) of Great Valley, NY, a daughter Terri Porter (and her husband Joe) of Jamison, PA and a son Chris Verros (and his wife Maureen) of Mansfield, MA. Crissi was also blessed with four amazing grandchildren (Krystin, Ashley, Christopher and Cameron), and three beautiful great-grandchildren (Cole, Drew and Jacob).

Crissi was born in Warren, PA, and was the daughter of Theodore and Voula Danas. She attended Grove City College where she majored in music. She moved to Salamanca upon her marriage in 1946 and lived there her entire adult life. She and her husband owned and operated the Sugar Bowl, which later became Christopher’s Restaurant and Lounge prior to the urban renewal. For the next 30 years, Crissi worked for Holiday Valley Ski Resort as the Retail Manager and Buyer for the Mountain Shop until she retired in the late 1990’s. Crissi has been a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Jamestown, NY.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River St, Salamanca, NY on Sunday from 4 – 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Wildwood Ave, Salamanca, NY with Father Jarrod Russell, pastor of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Jamestown, officiating.
