David G. Elsen

David G. Elsen, 72, of Salamanca, NY, died Monday, February 19, 2024 at Olean General Hospital following a short illness.

Born April 29, 1951 in Salamanca, NY, he was the son of the late John and Alta Flanigan Elsen. He was married on September 4, 2004 in Salamanca, NY to the former Geri Anne Gillman, who survives.

He was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1969.

He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam era, serving with the Military Police in the 561st.

David had been employed as an engineer at TRW Bearings, Jamestown, NY, Highland Plastics, the former Red Garder Restaurant, both in Salamanca, NY, and as a golf teacher at the Elkdale Country Club, Salamanca, NY, and had most recently been working at Allegany State Park in the Rental Office.

He enjoyed golfing with the “Tuesday Crew” and watching college basketball, especially during March Madness. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and enjoyed socializing with his many groups of friends.

Surviving besides his wife are: a sister, Mary Kay (Michael) Naimoli, Wayne, PA; a brother, Steven Elsen, Ventura, CA; several nieces and nephews, including Maya Naimoli, and Sean Naimoli.

He was predeceased by a brother, Daniel Elsen.

There will be no visitation.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post 535, 67 Wildwood Avenue, Salamanca, NY on Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 1 – 4pm.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.
