David H. "Butch" Skiver

David H. “Butch” Skiver, 79, of Ellicottville, NY, died suddenly Friday afternoon, August 2, 2024 at home.

Born February 7, 1945 in Gowanda, NY, he was the son of the late James and Marion Basse Skiver. He was married on February 3, 1973 in Ellicottville to the former Donna L. Emke, who survives.

He attended the St. Mary’s School for the Deaf, Buffalo, NY.

David had been employed as a laborer with Fitzpatrick & Weller, Ellicottville, NY for over 40 years, retiring in 2011.

He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, walking, and taking care of his yard. He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and enjoyed watching all sports, especially NASCAR.

Surviving besides his wife are: a son, Andrew D. Skiver, Ellicottville, NY; two brothers, James (Janet) Skiver, Kill Buck, NY, William Skiver, Little Valley, NY; two sisters, Doris (Richard) Hadley, Ellicottville, NY, Carol Dutton, Hinsdale, NY; several nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family and will be announced.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.
