. David Shongo Sr.
Mr. David Shongo Sr., age 71, of 44 Seneca Street, Salamanca, New York died early Saturday morning, August 4, 2012 at The Absolut of Salamanca, New York following a short illness.
Born on November 21, 1940 in Salamanca, New York he was the son of the late Donald Locke and Roberta Jimerson-Shongo. He was married the former Rosemary Warrior who survives.
He was employed as an Ironworker and a member of the Ironworkers Union Local #6.
Mr. Shongo was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Bear Clan. He enjoyed playing bingo, billiards, and was a sports enthusiast especially the Buffalo Bills.
Surviving are: a daughter, Tonya Shongo, Salamanca, New York; 2 sons, David Shongo Jr., Salamanca, New York, Norman Sunderlin, Salamanca, New York; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Carol Kennison, Salamanca, New York, Margery Becelia-Blauvelt, Salamanca, New York; a brother, Larry Sunderlin, Salamanca, New York; several nieces and nephews; his best friend Louie "Mo" Moses, Cuba, New York.
He was predeceased by 2 sons, Michael Shongo, Donald Shongo, a brother, Raymond Sunderlin, 2 sisters, Bonnie Morrison, and Debra Sunderlin.
Friends may call at the family home, 34 Pine Street, Salamanca, New York beginning early Monday afternoon, August 6, 2012 and continuing throughout Tuesday.
Funeral services will begin at the family home on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with Al George, Speaker of the Coldspring Longhouse, officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Heights Cemetery, Jimersontown, New York.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.
