Delphine Puvel
Mrs. Delphine Puvel, age 93, formerly of Front Avenue, Salamanca, New York died Monday evening, September 14, 2009 at the Bradford Regional Medical Center, Bradford, Pa.
Born on May 14, 1916 in Salamanca, New York she was the daughter of the late Walter and Josephine Vincoski Lewicki. She was married on June 12, 1935 in Holy Cross Church to Mr. Aloysius Puvel who predeceased her on August 27, 1957.
Mrs. Puvel was employed in housekeeping at the former Tour-O-Tel Motel in Salamanca, New York and had been employed at the former Weston’s Bakery. Also, she had provided child care services and had been employed as a private housekeeper for several families.
She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish (Holy Cross Worship Site), the Rosary Society, AARP, Salamanca Senior Center, and a former member of the Holy Cross Club and it’s Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed card playing, gardening and crocheting.
Surviving are: a son, Gene(Mickalena) Puvel, Great Valley, New York; 2 daughters, Shirley (Neil) Rojek, Webster, New York, Lorraine (Paul) Prusinowski, Salamanca, New York; 2 grandchildren, Jay (Julie) Rojek, South Carolina, Janet (James) Prentice, Walworth, New York; 4 great grandchildren, Jenna and Jayme Rojek, South Carolina, Matthew and Michael Prentice, Walworth, New York; a brother, Donald (Helen) Lewicki, Olean, New York, several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by 3 sisters, Eleanore Doggett, Elizabeth Marowski, Lorraine Lewicki, 4 brothers, Ferdinand Lewicki, Leonard Lewicki, Edward Lewicki, and Richard Lewicki.
Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Friday from 4-8 P.M.
A prayer service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Peace Parish (Holy Cross Worship Site) at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor, as celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Salamanca Senior Center or the donor’s choice.
