Mrs. Dolores J. Brown, age 75, formerly of East State Street, Salamanca, New York passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Monday, March 9, 2009 at Bradford Regional Medical Center, Bradford, Pa. Born on August 29, 1933 in Salamanca, New York she was the daughter of the late Lonnie and Florence Reynolds Ewing. She was married on July 14, 1952 to Mr. John Brown who survives.
Mrs. Brown attended the former Christian Missionary & Alliance Church.
She worked several years at Reed’s Newsroom, Holiday Valley, Signore’s, and 11 years at the Salamanca Public Library retiring due to illness.
She loved and cared for the children she babysat as though they were her own. She loved traveling, bingo, and was a doll collector.
Surviving besides her husband are: 3 sons, John Brown Jr., James Brown, Jerry Brown, all of Salamanca, New York; 2 sisters, Lucille (Vince) Schumacher, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Arlene (Fred) Paine, Davenport, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by an infant daughter, Connie Brown and a brother, Richard Ewing.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 – 4 & 7 -9 P.M. at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York .
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Thursday morning at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Clara Wilder of the Alma Methodist Church, Alma, New York.
Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.
The family suggests memorials to the Salamanca Public Library Memorial Fund.
