Donna Opferbeck

Mrs. Donna M. Opferbeck, age 73, of Washington Street, Salamanca, New York, died early Thursday morning, April 21, 2011, at Millard Fillmore Hospital, Gates Circle, Buffalo, New York, following a short illness.

Born on November 7, 1937, in Salamanca, New York, she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Evelyn Reek Conte. She was married on February 8, 1957, in Salamanca, New York, to Mr. Daniel Opferbeck who survives.

Mrs. Opferbeck was employed with Home Health Care Services in Salamanca, New York as the Health Coordinator for over 10 years, retiring in 1986.

She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, Salamanca, New York, the former Women of the Moose Lodge #1002, Holy Cross Athletic Club, Elkdale Country Club, and the Salamanca Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. She liked to travel and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Surviving besides her husband are: 2 daughters, Christie (Michael) Bowles, Drake Run, Salamanca, New York, Linda Huffman, Great Valley, New York; 2 sons, Daniel Opferbeck Jr., Matthew Opferbeck, both of Washington Street, Salamanca, New York; 4 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter.

She was predeceased by a sister, Frances Brooks.

Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Tuesday evening, April 26, 2011 from 5 – 8 P.M.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Our Lady of Peace Parish on Wednesday morning, April 27, 2011 at 10 A.M. with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor, as celebrant.

Burial will be in Crawford Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society.
