Doris Chopan

Mrs. Doris Chopan, age 89, formerly of 56 Cleveland Avenue, Salamanca, New York died Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Heritage Village in Gerry, New York following a long illness.

Born on January 30, 1923 in Poland Center, New York she was the daughter of the late William & Bessie Stedman Sutton. She was married on January 27, 1940 to Mr. Stephen P. Chopan who predeceased her on March 30, 1985.

Mrs. Chopan had been employed at Signore's in Ellicottville, New York retiring in 1986.

She was a member of United Congregational Methodist Church, Christian Women's Fellowship and worked on the Rummage Sales. In her community, she delivered Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed her house, deck, growing flowers, tomatoes, cooking and spending time with her family.

Surviving are: 2 daughters, Roberta (Robert) Saxton, Jamestown, New York, Leana (Joseph) Walsh, Ashville, N.C.; 2 sons, Stephen Chopan, Rochester, New York, Dennis Chopan, Macedon, New York; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; a brother, William (Beverly) Sutton, Salamanca, New York; several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Chopan was predeceased by a daughter, Marjorie (Midge) Schubert, 2 sisters, Barbara Olson, Myra Crooks, 2 brothers, Walter Sutton, and Albert Sutton.

Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Friday from 4-7 PM.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning at 11 A.M. in United Congregational Methodist Church with Pastor Joshua Schallert officiating.

Burial will be in Crawford Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.
