Dorothy J. Dunn

Dorothy J. Dunn, 91, formerly of Salamanca, NY, residing at Field of Dreams, Allegany, NY died Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Olean General Hospital following a long illness.

Born October 26, 1931 in Salamanca, NY, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Pauline Klocek Grochowina. She was married December 27, 1951 at Holy Cross Church, Salamanca, NY to Jack Dunn who predeceased her in 2021.

She was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1941.

Dorothy had been the office manager of National Fuel Gas Distribution Corporation, Salamanca, NY for over 20 years, retiring in 1987. She had previously been employed with the former Dietrich Hardware, Salamanca, NY.

She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, enjoyed cooking, and will be remembered for the quilts that she had made by hand. She and her late husband traveled throughout the United States, wintered in Florida and later resided there since 1990.

Surviving are: a sister, Grace Jones Swanton, OH; several nieces and nephews, including Dr. Paula (Greg) Kenneson, Kill Buck, NY, Francie (Javier) Balestrini, San Clemente, CA, Stanley Grochowina, Little Valley, NY, Dale (Barb) Jones, Doug Jones, both of Swanton, OH, Dr. Patricia Johnson, Buffalo, NY, Elizabeth Garfield, Boulder, CO.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Garfield, Louise Sidock, and two brothers, Stanley Grochowina and Leo Grochowina.

There will be no visitation.

Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Summer Camp, 303 Court Street, Little Valley, NY 14755.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.
