Dr. Wayne F. Whitmer

Dr. Wayne F. Whitmer, 68, of Clarksville, TN, passed away April 15, 2011, at the Gateway Medical Center, Clarksville, TN.

Born November 7, 1942, he was the son of the late Robert and Gaithel Bargy Whitmer.

Dr. Whitmer was a veteran of the United States Army.

Dr. Whitmer received his higher education degrees, Bachelor's: University of the Cumberlands, Williamsburg, KY; Master's: Xavier University, Cincinnati, OH; Master's: University of Cincinnati; Doctorate: University of Cincinnati.

He was employed at Austin Peay State University from 1979 until he retired as Assistant Professor in 2000. While at APSU, he taught in the College of Business, College of Education, and School of Technology and Public Management. He was formerly a faculty member at the University of Cincinatti, Ohio, from 1976-1979.

Surviving are: one sister, Vivian (Doug) Fuller, Killbuck, NY; one brother, Robert (Mae) Whitmer Jr., Killbuck, NY; special friends/caregivers, Rusty, Sue, Emily, and Bennett Evans, the Staff and Administrators or FieldStone Place Retirement Community, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one sister, Janice Brown.

There will be no visitation.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Local funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County, P.O. Box 571, Clarksville, TN 37041, of FieldStone Place Retirement Community, 51 Patel Way, Clarksville, TN 37043.
