Duke Sargent

Mr. Duke Sargent, age 49, of Killbuck Road, Salamanca, New York died Monday, March 16, 2015 at his home.

Born October 31, 1965 in Corry, PA, he was the son of Fred (Joan) Sargent of Hempstead, Texas and Judy Lohr Sargent, Baltimore, Maryland. He was married on March 11, 2002 to Debra Dalaba Lafferty Sargent, who survives.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force 3762 Student Squadron at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas.

Mr. Sargent was employed at Fitzpatrick & Weller. Previously, he had been employed at Holiday Valley for 10 years, the Seneca Allegany Casino, The Waters of Salamanca, and Norton-Smith Hardwoods.

He was a member of Healing Reigns Fellowship in Salamanca, New York. He had been a former member of Eddyville Community Church. He was loved by many friends and family.

Surviving besides his wife and parents are: 4 children, Shawn (Heather) Lafferty, West Valley, NY, Tanya (Rodney) Terhune, Salamanca, NY, Daniel (Amber) Lafferty, Salamanca, NY, Daniel McCoy, Texarkana, TX; 11 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Rick (Pam) Sargent, Kettering, OH, Derreck (Gina) Sargent, Baltimore, MD; a sister, Elesha (Wesley) Wofford, Blairsville, PA; 5 nieces and 4 nephews; many extended nieces and nephews.

Friends may attend a memorial service on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the United Congregational Methodist Church with Pastor Ray Gilman, Pastor Wallace Mapes of the Healing Reigns Fellowship, and retired Pastor Chip Cleland officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.

Full military honors will be conducted by members of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post 535 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post 5296.
