Edward Kissel
Edward A. Kissel, age 87, of Maples Road, Ellicottville, New York died Monday, April 27, 2009 at his home.
Born on October 27, 1921 in Salamanca, New York he was the son of the late John and Mary Tomsick Kissel. He was married in Holy Cross Church on September 21, 1947 to the former Helen Malanowski who predeceased him on August 27, 2008.
Mr. Kissel was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp serving with the 37th Bomb Wing during WWII.
He was a self employed Upholsterer. Previously, he had been employed by the Civilian Conservation Corps
Mr. Kissel was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish (Holy Cross Worship Site), but had attended Holy Name of Mary Church in Ellicottville for the last ten years since moving to Ellicottville, the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post #5296. He had been a member of the Allegany State Park Ski Jump Team, and he had helped build and maintain the jumps.
Surviving are: a son, Casper “Larry” (Molly) Kissel, Lewis Run, Pa.; a daughter, Marlene (Rod) Sergel, Ellicottville, New York; a sister, Leona Doran, Allegany, New York; 2 nieces and 2 nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, John Kissel.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 9:00 A.M. in Holy Name of Mary Church, Ellicottville, New York with Rev. Ronald Mierzwa, pastor, as celebrant.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.
