Edward Krieger
Mr. Edward Krieger, age 58, of 23 Bliss Street, Salamanca, N Y, died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, New York following a short illness.
Born on March 14, 1952 in Salamanca, NY he was the son of the late Col. John and Kathryn Boyce Krieger. He was married on December 31, 1972 to the former Barbara Furman who survives.
He was a 1971 graduate of Arch Bishop Walsh High School. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Empire State College 1997.
Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving from 1972 to 1992. He was stationed in various bases around the country, and in the Philippines, Japan, and Korea.
He had been employed at New Directions since his retirement from the Air Force.
Ed was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post #535, Elkdale Monday Night Golf League, Arch Bishop Walsh Alumni Association, and the Salamanca Historical Society. He loved riding his Harley and had made several cross country trips on it.
Surviving besides his wife are: 2 sons, Christopher (Josie) Krieger, Dyess Air Force Base, Abilene, Texas, Kelly (Billie) Krieger, Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, Nevada; 2 granddaughters, Sierra Krieger, Abilene,Texas, Kathryn Krieger, Las Vegas, Nevada; 3 sisters, Mary Louise Krieger Clark, Buffalo, NY, Kathryn (Todd) Searle, Wellsville, NY, Susan Krieger Markel, Buffalo, NY; a brother, John Krieger, Las Vegas, Nevada; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Sunday from 4-7 P.M.
A Prayer Service will be held in the funeral home on Monday morning at 10:30 A.M. followed by a concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in Our Lady of Peace Parish with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor, and Rev. Joseph Porpiglia, pastor of St. Benedict's Church, Buffalo, New York as concelebrants.
Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Salamanca, NY.
Full military honors will be conducted by members of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post #535 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post #5296.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Salamanca Historical Society or the Arch Bishop Walsh Alumni Association.
