Edward W. Confer Sr.
Edward W. Confer Sr., 76, of Carrolton, NY, died Monday evening, July 25, 2022 at Olean General Hospital following a long illness.
Born June 19, 1946 in Salamanca, NY, he was the son of the late William and Hazel Thomas Wilson. He was married on November 30, 2002 in Carrollton, NY to the former Dorothy L. John, who survives.
He attended Salamanca High School and he was a veteran of the United States Army.
Edward had been employed as an over-the-road truck driver with NBS Trucking, Bradford, PA for over 10 years, retiring in 2008. He had previously been employed with Kenny Trucking, Salamanca, NY as well as the former King Windows, Little Valley NY.
He was a member the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post 535, the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post 5296, and the former Salamanca Elks Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, golfing, and going on four-wheeler drives. In hi younger years, he enjoyed playing softball.
Surviving besides his wife are: a daughter, Jeanette (Cristina) Confer, Louisville, KY; two step daughters, Alexia John, Steamburg, NY, Tonya (James) Pratt, Valdosta, GA; two sons, Edward (Tracy) Confer Jr, Chesapeake, VA, Michael (Patricia) Confer, Phoenix, AZ; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Golda Shattuck and Nancy Perry.
Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Friday, July 29, 2022 from 5 – 8pm.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 11am with members of the family officiating.
Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Salamanca, NY.
