Eileen Norton
Mrs. Eileen H. Button Norton, age 84, of Great Valley, New York died Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo, New York following a brief illness.
Born on October 28, 1924 in Napoli, New York she was the daughter of the late Heman and Hazel Andrews Button. She was married on August 1, 1944 to Ryan H. Norton who predeceased her in 1981.
During WWII she was a “Rosie the Riveter” at Bell Aircraft in Buffalo, New York. She worked for her husband as an Executive Secretary for C.B. Norton & Son Lumber in Killbuck, New York for several years.
Mrs. Norton was the local Red Cross Fund Raising Chairman during the 1950’s. She was an avid crafter. She had a one woman Art Show in Olean as well as a successful craft business doing shows all over Cattaraugus and Chautauqua Counties. Most recently, she became very proficient with the computer doing family histories and photo editing.
Surviving are: 2 sons, Allen (Ruth) Norton, Little Valley, New York, Donn (Jackie) Norton, Great Valley, New York; 4 daughters, Nan (Roy – deceased) Ullman, Gay (Jim) Fitzpatrick, both of Great Valley, New York; Ann (Joe) Tascone, Utica, New York, Kathy Norton, Great Valley, New York; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; her good friend, Janet Skiver, her beloved cat, Spunky.
There will be no visitation.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family and will be announced.
Burial will be in Green Cemetery, Great Valley, New York.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Friends of Strays, 69 Crawford Street, Salamanca, New York 14779 or the American Red Cross.
