Elaine Wojtowicz
Elaine Wojtowicz, 95, of Great Valley, NY died Monday evening, January 15, 2024 at home following a short illness.
Born February 28, 1928 in Salamanca, NY, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Hazel Wilson Hutchison. She was married August 17, 1949 at the former Holy Cross Church to Joseph Wojtowicz, who predeceased her in 2011.
She was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1946.
Elaine had been employed at the former JJ Newberry Company and Salamanca Woolen Mills. She had also worked many years as a home healthcare aide.
She was a member of the Riverside Chapel, the former United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They brought her much joy. She and Joe were also foster parents to many children over the years. Elaine enjoyed family picnics, walking with Joe at Allegany State Park, and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed sewing and made many wedding and bridesmaid dresses for her daughters and nieces. She grew up with a large family and loved reminiscing about family gatherings and the music they would play together.
Surviving are: two daughters, Ann Biscup, Paula (Tim) Dineen, both of Salamanca, NY; five grandchildren, Maria (Lonnie Miller) Welka, Olean, NY, Andrew Biscup, Moab, UT, Caleb (Cassondra) Biscup, Salamanca, NY, Aaron (Andrea) Biscup, OH, and Patrick Dineen, Salamanca, NY; twelve great-grandchildren; a sister, Norma Rowland, Great Valley, NY; two special sisters-in-law, Barbara Hutchison, SC, Helene Wrona, Salamanca, NY.
She was predeceased by a son, Michael Wojtowicz, five brothers, Ernest, Robert, Harry, Leon, Clayton Hutchison, and a sister, Anna May Hutchison.
Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Monday, January 22, 2024 from 6 – 9pm.
Funeral services will be held in the Riverside Chapel, 134 Broad Street, Salamanca, NY on Tuesday at 11am with Rev. Ben Good, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Crawford Cemetery, Salamanca, NY.
