Eleanor J. Oakes

Eleanor J. Oakes, 81, of Salamanca, NY died Monday morning, June 14, 2021 at Buffalo General Hospital following a long illness.

Born April 1, 1940 in Humphrey, NY, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Kathlene Scott Mett. She was married on March 18, 1961 in Ellicottville, NY to David Oakes, who predeceased her in 2020.

She attended Ellicottville Central School.

Mrs. Oakes had been employed with the Salamanca Central School System in food service, retiring in 2002. She had also been employed at Holiday Valley in Ellicottville, the former King Windows, Little Valley, and the former Salamanca Woolen Mills.

She enjoyed the outdoors, walking in the woods, scrapbooking and photos, and doing crafts.

Surviving are: a daughter, Melanie (Todd Reese) Trummer, Little Valley, NY; a son, Steven (Sheri Ambuske) Oakes, Salamanca, NY; three granddaughters, Heather Parker, TX, Amanda Hess, TX, Makenzie Oakes, Salamanca, NY; two grandsons, Ryan Trummer, Salamanca, NY, Cody Hebdon, Springville, NY; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Moore, TX, Brian Moore, TX; two brothers, Greg Mett, Smethport, PA, Kevin Mett, Salamanca, NY; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Christie Sue Trummer, and two brothers, Donald Mett and Russell Mett.

There will be no visitation.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.
