Elizabeth Elsen
Elizabeth J. "Betty" Elsen, age 87, of Center Street, Salamanca, New York died Thursday morning at the Bradford Manor, Bradford, PA following a brief illness.
Born on February 5, 1925 in Salamanca, New York, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Katherine Allen Ludwick. She was married on April 8, 1946 to Mr. Thomas Elsen who predeceased her on May 1, 1994.
She was employed as the Assistant District Manager of the Dept. of Agriculture FHA, Little Valley, New York prior to her retirement.
Mrs. Elsen was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, the Altar & Rosary Society, Elkdale Country Club, Newman's, a founding member of Quadays, the Mr. & Mrs. Club. She was a long-time volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Bank and the Salamanca Public Library.
Surviving are: 3 daughters, Elaine M. Elsen, Jean M. (Frank) Pascarella, both of Salamanca, New York, Kathleen M. Elsen Hobbs, Dunkirk, New York; a son, Joseph T. (Damie) Elsen, Glenwood Springs, Colorado; 8 grandchildren, Gregory Spako, Olean, New York; Julie (Coleman) Spako-McMurphy, Austin, Texas; Brian (Marie) Spako, Allegany, New York; Anne Marie Spako, Austin, Texas; Andy J. Pascarella, Buffalo, New York; Logan M. (Ashley) Pascarella, Nashville, Tennessee; Brandon C. Hobbs, Pittsburgh, PA; James T. Elsen, Glenwood Springs, Colorado; 3 great grandchildren; Ethan McMurphy, August McMurphy, both of Austin, Texas, Juddson Spako, Allegany, New York; nieces and nephews: Stephen (Virginia) Elsen, Ventura, California; David (Geri) Elsen, Ellicottville, New York; Dan F. Elsen, Sausalito, California and Mary Kay (Michael) Naimoli, Strafford, Pennsylvania.
Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from 4-7 P.M.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday morning at 11 A.M. in Our Lady of Peace Parish with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor, as celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salamanca Public Library, American Red Cross or Our Lady of Peace Church.
