Ella I. Kasperek
Ella I. Kasperek, age 90 , of Wilson Street, Salamanca, New York died early Thursday morning, August 11, 2011 at the Pines Health Care & Rehab, Olean, New York.
Born on February 26, 1921 in Napoli, New York she was the daughter of the late Bert and Phoebe Waite Wilcox. She was married in Salamanca, New York on June 19, 1947 to Donald Kasperek who predeceased her on June 26, 2011.
Mrs. Kasperek was employed at Curtis-Wright Aircraft during WWII, at the Salamanca Press, as a Librarian at Horseheads Central School, at the Public Library in Milltown, New Jersey and at the Public Library in Cary, North Carolina.
She was a Girl Scout Troop Leader, she served as the Neighborhood Girl Scout Chairwoman in Salamanca, and she served as a Fresh Air Family Host. She was a member of Pine Tree Quilting and Tuesday AM Quilters in Cary, North Carolina, and Sew Many Quilters in Salamanca, New York.
Surviving are: a daughter, Donna ( Ronald) Raahauge, Salamanca, New York; a son, Larry (Jean) Kasperek, Bay Village, Ohio; 4 grandchildren, Anya Williams, Minnesota, Caren Raahauge, Salamanca, New York, Matthew Kasperek, Molly Kasperek, both of Bay Village, Ohio; a great grandson, Jeremy Kasperek, Salamanca, New York; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by 3 sisters, Margaret Herrick, Carrie Caward, Wilma Wilcox, 2 brothers, Arthur Wilcox and Calvin Wilcox.
Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Sunday from 3-5 P.M.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 2 P.M. with Pastor Joseph Pascoe, of the United Methodist Church of Little Valley, New York officiating.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.
