Elvera "Vera" Jimerson

Mrs. Evelyn "Vera" Jimerson, age 60, of 8108 East Loop Road, Jimersontown, New York died early Wednesday morning, December 5, 2007 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, New York.

Born on May 7, 1947 in Quaker Bridge, New York she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Alice Thompson Dowdy Sr. She was married on February 25, 1967 to Mr. Avery Jimerson Jr. who survives.

Mrs. Jimerson was a long time employee of the Seneca Nation of Indians.

She was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians, the Snipe Clan, the Coldspring Longhouse, she was a Faithkeeper at the Coldspring Longhouse, and she enjoyed playing bingo.

Surviving are: 2 sons, Victor (Ranae Halftown) Jimerson, Steamburg, New York, Darryl (Patricia Maybee) Jimerson, Irving, New York; a daughter, Brandy (Jeremy Buchholz) Jimerson, Salamanca, New York; 7 granchildren; 2 sisters, Florence "Flossie" (Lee) Harrison, Steamburg, New York; 1 brother, Herbert Dowdy Jr., Salamanca, New York; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Avery "Jinx" Jimerson III on May 2, 2004 and a grandson, Hamilton Jimerson on November 20, 2007.

Friends may call at the family home all day Thursday.

Funeral services will be held on Friday morning beginning at 9:00 A.M. in the family home followed by services in the Coldspring Longhouse at 10:00 A.M.

Burial will be in Hillside Haven Cemetery, Steamburg, New York.
