Elverna Gordon
Mrs. Elverna S. Gordon, age 81, of Center Road, Steamburg, NY, died Monday, July 5, 2010, at her home following a long illness.
Born on November 14, 1928, in Coldspring, NY, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius & Elsie Logan Abrams Sr. She was the granddaughter of Hanna Billy Abrams. She was married on March 2, 1946, to Mr. Arthur P. Gordon, who predeceased her on July 27, 2004.
Mrs. Gordon had been employed as a Seneca Language teacher for the SNI Bilingual Language Program, Title 7, at the Salamanca High School. She was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians, Turtle Clan, and the East Randolph VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary, and enjoyed her family.
Surviving are: 1 son, Stephen A. Gordon, Salamanca, NY; 1 daughter, Dyann (Tom) Gordon, Steamburg, NY; 4 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Marcia Abrams, Steamburg, NY, Corliss (Floyd) Bucktooth, Steamburg, NY; 1 brother, Morris Abrams, Jimersontown; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by: 2 sons, Gary Arthur Gordon, and Daniel Gordon; 3 brothers, Merle Crouse, Cornelius Abrams, Jr., Wayne Abrams; 2 sisters, Gloria Crouse and Ramona Biscup.
Friends may call at 150 Center Road, Steamburg, NY, all day today, with funeral services beginning at the family home on Thursday at 9 a.m. followed by 10 a.m. service at the Coldspring Longhouse.
Burial will be in Hillside Haven Cemetery, Steamburg, NY.
