Eugene A. “Geno” Gilbert, 42, of Salamanca, New York, formerly of Olean, NY, died unexpectedly Sunday, January 10, 2016 shortly after being admitted to Olean General Hospital.

Born on September 16, 1973 in Olean, New York he was the son of the late Eugene “Geno” Gilbert and Star Waymack Gilbert, Olean, NY, who survives.

Mr. Gilbert had been employed with Shults Tire & Lube Express in Olean, NY.

He was a founding member of Exotic Dreamz Car Club, Olean, New York. Geno was an avid Honda enthusiast whose love for cars was shown in every area of his life. He was known for his kind heart and willingness to help anyone in need, expecting nothing in return. You could always count on his honesty and integrity. He will be forever missed.

Surviving besides his mother are: his companion, Gwen Bruno, Salamanca, NY; a son, Brandon Gilbert, Salamanca, NY; 4 sisters, Wanda Waymack Tilley, Port Allegany, PA, Niki Stovall, TN, Annie Gilbert, Bradford, PA, Theodosa Gilbert, Olean, NY; 2 brothers, Robert “Bobby” Gilbert, Jimmy Gilbert, both of Olean, NY; several nieces and nephews; his favorite dogs, Snoopy, Koala, & Puppers.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Friday from 7 – 9 p.m.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
