Floyd "Gido" Bucktooth III

Floyd “Gido” Bucktooth III, 65, of Steamburg, NY died Sunday, January 21, 2018 at home following a long illness surrounded by his family.

Born June 17, 1952 in Syracuse, NY, he was the son of the late Floyd and Elaine Gibson Bucktooth Jr. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, the former Corliss Abrams, whom he married on March 20, 2014.

Floyd was a graduate of Salamanca High School Class of 1971 and enlisted in the United States Army.

Floyd was employed with the Seneca Nation of Indians as a transport driver for six years. He was a laborer for the Rochester Local #435 and was a commercial over-road trucker for Werner Trucking and Wolf’s Run in Irving, NY.

He was an enrolled member of the Onondaga Nation and the Eel Clan. He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes, cooking, and baking, and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.

Surviving besides his wife are: three daughters, Danielle Johnson, Coldspring, NY, Bethany Johnson, Salamanca, NY, Stevie Rae Bucktooth, Jimersontown, NY; five sons, Darren (Sheila) Johnson, Steamburg, NY, Jeremy (Melissa) Bucktooth, KY, Jerome (Carly) Bucktooth, Salamanca, NY, Regis Bucktooth, Coldspring, NY, Cory (Amanda) Bucktooth, Salamanca, NY; 24 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Floyd “Knuckles” Bucktooth IV, a grandson, Jerome “Baby Boy” Bucktooth, two sons-in-law, Brandon Redeye and Matthew Maybee, and three brothers, Fletcher Bucktooth, Ernest Bucktooth, and Eric Bucktooth.

Friends may call at the family home, 1035 Central Road, Steamburg, NY beginning on Monday afternoon and continuing all day Tuesday.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the family home, followed by services in the Coldspring Longhouse.

Burial will be in Memorial Heights Cemetery, Jimersontown, NY.
