Frederick H. Potgieter

Mr. Fred H. Potgieter, age 83, of Swan Street, Salamanca, NY died early Monday morning, December 5, 2011 at Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY following a long illness.

He was born on May 7, 1928 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

He was a veteran of the US Army serving from 1954-56.

Mr. Potgieter was employed as a union carpenter in New York City for many years.

He was a member of the Salamanca Senior Center. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. He enjoyed the companionship of his three cats.

Surviving are: his companion, Margaret Bowles, Salamanca, NY; 5 daughters; 2 sons; 6 grandchildren.

There will be no visitation.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.
