George O'Brien

Mr. George O'Brien, age 79, of 35 Erie Street, Salamanca, New York died Monday, July 14, 2008 at his home.

Born on February 8, 1929 in Kent, Ohio, he was the son of the late Joseph & Helen Kline O'Brien. He was married in Cattaraugus, New York on July 28, 1973 to Constance Mohr who predeceased him on June 13, 2007.

He was a Veteran of the United States Navy having served on the USS Valcort and the USS Cabot in the Persian Gulf from 1948 - 1952.

Mr. O'Brien retired in 1984 after working for 31 years as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Kent, Ohio.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #531, Little Valley, New York and a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1411 in Kent, Ohio.

Surviving are 1 step-daughter: Mrs. Sally (Perry) Winship, Little Valley, New York; 1 grandson: Perry (Carrie) Winship Jr., Little Valley, New York; 1 granddaughter: Devon Winship, Little Valley, New York; 2 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Marie Fortin.

There will be no visitation.

Burial will be in Crawford Cemetery, Salamanca, New York at the convenience of the family.

The O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca. New York will be in charge of funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Home Care & Hospice, 1225 West State Street, Salamanca, New York 14760.
