Gregory J. Washburn

Gregory J. Washburn, 72, of Salamanca, NY, died Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Olean General Hospital following a long illness.

Born August 5, 1953 in Bradford, PA, he was the son of the late George and Shirley Bullock Brown.

He was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1971. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, stationed in Japan.

He had been employed as a roofer with C&D Construction in Little Valley, NY.

Gregg enjoyed the outdoors, kayaking, and was a motorcycle enthusiast. He could fix almost anything from carpentry to cars. He will be remembered for his love of dogs, especially his German Shepherds. He was musically inclined, playing the drums and accordion in several local bands, and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. He was a member of the AARP.

Surviving are: his longtime companion, Teresa Evans, Salamanca, NY; a step-daughter, Ashley Evans; three daughters, Jesse Washburn, VA, Jarah (Justin) Reitnauer, Olean, NY, Kristen Washburn, Bemus Point, NY; two sons, Jason Washburn, VA, Chance (Alexandra) Washburn, Jamestown, NY; several grandchildren; two sisters, Margo Washburn, Olean, NY, Lisa (James) Kinney, Coudersport, PA; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Debra Pierce, and a brother, Christopher Brown.

There will be no visitation.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family and will be announced.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River St. Salamanca, NY.
