Hazel M. Gallo
Hazel M. Gallo, age 88, of 53 Eagle Street, Salamanca, New York died Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Bradford Regional Medical Center following a long illness.
Born on September 29, 1921 in Watsons Farm, Pa. she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Walters Eck.
Mrs. Gallo had been employed at the former Fisher’s Big Wheel in Salamanca, New York and the former Sample Store at the Olean Center Mall.
She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Ellicottville, New York. She was active in the City Democratic Party and was a guest of President Lyndon Johnson at the White House. Also, she was a volunteer for Meals On Wheels.
Surviving are: her six children, Nancy (Bill) Brown, New Market, Maryland, Michael (Anne) Gallo, State Park Avenue, Salamanca, New York, Steven (Ping) Gallo, Hong Kong, Gregory (Cheryl) Gallo, Olean, New York, Chris Gallo, Salamanca, New York, Helen (Maynard) Burrows, Olean, New York; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Marjorie “Nicki” Johnson, Kane, Pa., Gladys McCamey, Katherine (Charles) Umpleby, Kane, Pa.; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Thursday at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held in St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Wildwood Avenue, Salamanca, New York on Friday morning at 11 a.m. with Rev. Michael Lonto, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Kane, Pa.
