Helen Kowalski

Mrs. Helen Kowalski, age 88, formerly of Frank Street, Salamanca, New York died Wednesday evening, August 14, 2013 at The Absolut in East Aurora, New York.

Born on October 24, 1924 in Salamanca, New York she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Marjanna Strzalkowski Macielag. She was married on October 7, 1950 to Mr. John Kowalski who predeceased her on December 15, 2008. They renewed their vows on October 7, 2000 in St. Joseph's Cathedral in Buffalo, New York.

Mrs. Kowalski was employed as a Nurse's Aide at the former Salamanca District Hospital. She ha also worked as a Crossing Guard at Jefferson Street Elementary School for over 15 years.

She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish in Salamanca, New York.

Surviving are: a son, Joseph (Karyn) Kowalski, Collins, New York; 2 grandsons, Brandon Kowalski, Matthew Kowalski; a sister, Sophia Smith, East Aurora, New York; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Macielag.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.

Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.
