Henry Griehm

Mr. Henry G. Griehm, age 89, of Frank Street, Salamanca, New York died Wednesday morning, June 29, 2011 at The Absolut of Salamanca, New York.

Born on April 2, 1922 in Germany he was the son of the late Karl and Elsie Basedow Griehm. He was married on June 15, 1946 in Holy Cross Church to the former Marie Polasik who survives.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during WWII.

Mr. Griehm was employed in the Maintenance Department at Borden's, Randolph, New York prior to his retirement. He previously had been employed at the former Fancher Furniture Company.

He was a member of Holy Cross Athletic Club, American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post #535, Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post #5296, and he was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed his daily walks with his neighbors and good friends.

Surviving besides his wife are: a daughter, Tina (Jim) Borowiak, Great Valley, New York; 2 grandchildren, Amy Borowiak , Jay Borowiak, both of Great Valley, New York; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Karl Griehm and a sister, Helen Griehm.

There will be no visitation or services.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, New York at the convenience of the family.
