Hobart E. "Hobie" Collins

Mr. Hobart E. "Hobie" Collins Jr., age 57, of Hillview Homes, Salamanca, New York died Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at Olean General Hospital following a long illness.

Born June 18, 1950 in Ocean Side, New York he was the son of the late Hobart and Margaret Gutschwager Collins Sr. He was married in Salamanca, New York on May 20, 1995 to the former JoAnn Cicatello who predeceased him in 2001.

Mr. Collins was a graduate of Salamanca High School.

Prior to his disability, he was employed with the Philadelphia Furniture Company, Salamanca, New York.

Mr. Collins enjoyed gaming especially the VIP Room. He also enjoyed the outdoors.

Surviving are: 4 step children, Lynn Wheeler, Salamanca, New York, Debbie Strawbrick, Hamburg, New York, Robert Mashtaire, Buffalo, New York, Jody (Kiesha) Mashataire, Buffalo, New York; 20 step grandchildren; 6 sisters, Cynthia (David) Waite Sr., Killbuck, New York, Carol (Richard) Brown, Drake Rd., Great Valley, New York, Rose Collins, Olean, New York, Cathy Cobel, N.Y.C.; 2 brothers, Charles Collins Sr., Salamanca, NY, William (Janet) Collins, Little Rock, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews; 2 godsons, David Waite Jr., Salamanca, NY, Arnie Jimerson, Dalton, GA.

He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Gary Collins, Christopher Collins, and a sister, Diana Collins.

Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. noon at which time funeral services will be held with Robert Smith, formerly of the Salvation Army officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society.
