Hugh D. Oglevee
Hugh Oglevee, 94, of the Randolph Manor, Randolph, NY and a life-long resident of Salamanca, NY died Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at the Bradford Manor.
Born July 9, 1926 in Salamanca, NY, he was the son of the late Earl and Mildred Williams Ogelvee. He was married on October 10, 1955 to the former Joyce Dahlgren, who predeceased him in 2015.
Hugh was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during WWII in the Pacific Theatre.
He had been employed as a metal and steam fitter for the B&O Railroad and the Chessie System, retiring from the CSX after 46 years.
He was a member of the former United Congregational Methodist Church in Salamanca, was a barber shopper for the Jamestown and Olean Chapters, and was a well-known tenor in the area. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and handing out Werther’s Original candies.
Surviving are: two sons, Scott (Deborah) Oglevee, Dover, MA, Daniel (Lorri) Oglevee, Little Valley, NY; a daughter, Nance (Garth) Jackson, Jamestown, NY; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Donald Ogelvee.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family and will be announced.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.
