Irene John

Irene John, age 70 , of Jimersontown, New York died Monday evening, February 23, 2009 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, New York.

Born on May 5, 1938 in Coldspring, New York she was the daughter of the late Clinton and Sybil Jimerson Redeye. She was married on May 31, 1958 to Mr. Milburn “Lum” John who predeceased her on November 17, 1985.

She had been employed as an administrator for the Seneca Nation Housing prior to her early retirement due to illness.

Mrs. John was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians, the Hawk Clan, Jimersontown Presbyterian Church, Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post #535.

Surviving are: 4 daughters, Stephanie John, Sharon John, both of Jimersontown, New York, Carrie (James) John-Leary, Villa Park, Illinois, Christina John, Killbuck, New York; 1 son, Darryl (Penny) John, Salamanca, New York; 10 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; 1 sister, Edna Gordon, Irving, New York; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by 5 brothers, Alonzo Redeye, Donald Kenjockety, Harold “Bub” Kenjockety, Charlie Kenjockety, Quinton Kenjockety, 2 sisters, Ramona John and Sadie Redeye.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Wednesday from 5-7 P.M.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be in Memorial Heights Cemetery, Jimersontown, New York.
