Irene Kissel

Irene Kissel, 87, of 26 Myers Avenue, Salamanca died Saturday evening, January 3, 2015 at the Absolut at Salamanca, Salamanca, New York.

Born April 14, 1927 in Salamanca, New York, she was the daughter of the late Teofil and Mary Przybylska Husa. She was married on October 25, 1947 to Mr. John Kissel, who predeceased her on November 4, 1977.

She had been employed at the former Dudley Hotel.

She was a member of the former Holy Cross Church, Holy Cross Rosary Society, the Star of Liberty Lodge, and was a social member of the Holy Cross Athletic Club. She enjoyed being with her family and friends, gardening, and cooking. She loved her grandchildren.

Surviving are: a daughter, Linda (Francis) Frey, Salamanca, NY; 3 grandchildren, Pam Frey, Salamanca, NY, Chris Frey, Salamanca, NY, and Kelly (Tim Livergood) Frey-Brearey, Hamburg, NY.

She was predeceased by a sister, Loretta Kissak and two brothers, Max Husa and Stanley Husa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Our Lady of Peace Parish on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor, as celebrant.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
