Irene Lewis

Irene Lewis, age 96, formerly of Little Valley, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at the Absolut of Salamanca, Salamanca, New York.

Born on July 21, 1913 in Chicopee, MA she was the daughter of the late Mederic and Charlotte Gagnon Cote. She was married in 1935 to Mr. Hugo Lewis who predeceased her in 1968.

Mrs. Lewis attended at the former St. Mary’s Church in Little Valley, NY and St. Mary’s Church in Cattaraugus, NY.

She enjoyed knitting.

Surviving are: a son, Eugene Lewis D.D.S., Little Valley, NY; 4 grandchildren, Mark Lewis, Buffalo, NY, Paul Lewis, Jamestown, NY, Steven Lewis DDS, Rochester, NY, Shannon (Richard) Steinman, Wake Forest, NC; 6 great grandchildren, Tyler Lewis, Emily Lewis, both of Augusta, SC, Marisa Lewis, Buffalo, NY, Amanda Steinman, Zachary Steinman, both of Wake Forest, NC, Jacob Lewis, Rochester, NY.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Saturday from 12 – 1 P.M. at which time funeral and committal services will be held with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor of Our Lady of Peace Parish, officiating.

Burial will be in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Rochester, New York.
