Isabel M. Gilman
Mrs. Isabel M. Gilman, 91, of Broad Street, Salamanca, New York died Wednesday morning, August 12, 2015 at the Absolut at Salamanca, Salamanca, New York following a long illness.
Born January 10, 1924 in Red House, New York, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Carmel Rinaldi Lecceardone. She was married on January 10, 1942 in Holy Name of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Ellicottville to Mr. Russell Gilman, who predeceased her on May 12, 2010.
She owned and operated the LaBelle Hair Salon for over forty years in Salamanca. She also served as Chairperson for the Salamanca City Republican Party for several years.
She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish and the former Salamanca Moose Lodge Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling and spending time with her family, especially Sunday night dinners.
Surviving are: three sons, Wayne Gilman, Daryl Gilman, Randy Gilman, all of Salamanca, NY; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Mildred Schoonmaker, Margaret Starr, her twin sister Elizabeth Foriss and five brothers, Robert, Henry, Carl, Louis, and Joseph Lecceardone.
There will be no visitation.
Funeral services will be held in the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Michael Lonto, pastor of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, officiating.
Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Cattaraugus County SPCA.
