James E. Brahaney

Mr. James E. Brahaney, age 70, of 15 Smith Street, Salamanca, New York died Wednesday evening, March 19, 2008 at Olean General Hospital, Olean, New York following a short illness.

Born on August 8, 1937 in Salamanca, New York he was the son of the late John H. and Mary Thompson Brahaney. He was married on August 23, 1958 in St. Patrick's Church to the former Mary Ellen Roman who survives.

Mr. Brahaney was a graduate of Salamanca High School class of 1954. He qualified as a journeyman compositior having completed a six year apprenticeship in September of 1960 through New York State Department Of Labor State Apprenticeship Council.

He was employed at the Salamanca Republican Press and Bradford Era working in the production departments.

Mr. Brahaney was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Holy Cross Athletic Club,and the Square Circle. He enjoyed hunting, and was an avid archer.

Surviving besides his wife are : two sons, Mark A. (Gretchen) Brahaney, Salamanca, New York, James E. (Jean) Brahaney II, Rochester, New York; a grandson, Matthew M. Brahaney, Salamanca, New York; one sister, Jean M. (Bud) Fisher, Salamanca, New York; one brother, Daniel J. (Dawn) Brahaney, Salamanca, New York.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Julie A. Brahaney, a granddaughter, Meagan Brahaney, three sisters, Mary Paoletto, Frances Grochowina, Gertrude Fluent, and one brother John T. Brahaney.

Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Saturday and Sunday from 4 - 8 P.M.

A prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. on Monday followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady Of Peace (St. Patrick's Church) with Rev. Piotr Zaczynski pastor of Our Lady of Peace as celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, New York
