James Phillips

Mr. James H. Phillips, 60, of 59 Clinton Street, Salamanca, New York died Tuesday (August 5, 2008) at the Olean General Hospital following a long illness.

Born January 16, 1948 in Salamanca, New York he was the son of the late Charles "Buster" and Vivian Toennies Phillips. He was married on October 18, 1980 in the Free Methodist Church in Salamanca, New York to the former Alice Freed who survives.

Mr. Phillips was a veteran of the United States Army serving with the Green Berets in the 5th special forces division during the Vietnam Conflict.

He was employed at Philadelphia Furniture prior to his retirement. He had previously worked at Seneca Crafts for nineteen years.

He was a member of the brotherhood of carpenters and labors union, where he was a past president, the former BPO Elks Lodge#1025, an avid reader,enjoyed fishing and was a Coca-Cola collector.

Surviving besides his wife are one daughter Melanie ( George) McCracken, Great Valley, New York, two sons, Frank (Sandy Lamphier) Miller, Great Valley, Terry (Vivian) Miller, Salamanca, New York. eight grandchildren, Steven (Megan) Miller, Salamanca, New York, Amanda McCracken, Bobbi McCracken, Great Valley, New York, Michael Miller Salamanca, NY, Cameron Miller, Great Valley, New York, Christina Miller, Salamanca, NY Allen Miller, Joshua Miller, all of Salamanca, New York, three great-grandchildren, Gail Miller, Janay Miller. both of Olean, New York, Jeremiah Miller, Salamanca,New York, two brothers Floyc (Joyce) Phillips, West Palm Beach, FL, Timothy (Robyn) Phillips, jBradford, PA, one sister Norma Mann, West Palm Beach, FL. several nieces and nehpews.

Mr. Phillips was predeceased by two brothers Benjamin Phillips, Eddie Phillips.

Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Friday from 1000 AM until noon when funeral and committal services willl be held with Peter Haig, Elder at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family
