James Torrence
Mr. James Torrence, age 79, of Green Valley Estates, Great Valley, New York died Sunday, August 14, 2011, at the Absolut of Salamanca, New York.
Born on November 4, 1931, in Bradford, PA, he was the son of the late Earl and Ethel Jamison Torrence. He was married on October 22, 1980, to the former Carol Curtis Flick, who survives.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Torrence was employed at Salco in inventory control.
He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish and was an usher at St. Patrick's Church, where he called Bingo. He was a former member of the Ellicottville American Legion Post #659. He loved sports and cats.
Surviving besides his wife are: 3 daughters, Jamie Bach, Salamanca, NY, Brenda (Richard) Windus, Salamanca, NY, and Judy (Wayne) Yaw, Mt. Holly Springs, PA; one son, James (Lynne Maynard) Torrence Jr., Franklinville, NY; two stepdaughters, Rose (Cliff) Stone, Salamanca, NY, Sara (Sam) Nolf, Bradford, PA; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Edward Torrence, Sun City, CA, Sidney (Marge) Torrence, Rancho Cucamonga, CA; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 1 grandson, David Yaw; 1 sister, Jean Torrence; and 2 brothers, Jerry Torrence and Terry Torrence.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial mass will be held at convenience of the family.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.
