Jane Slevinski
Jane Slevinski, age 87, of Academy Street, Salamanca, New York died Saturday evening, December 26, 2009 at The Absolut of Salamanca, New York following a short illness.
Born on December 10, 1922 in Salamanca, New York she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Lakoma Stefanski. She was married on March 4, 1946 in Holy Cross Church to Mr. Casimer Slevinski who predeceased her on July 22, 2001.
She was employed at the Salamanca Yarns and retired from Allegany State Park in 1987.
Mrs. Slevinski was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, it’s Rosary Society, AARP Chapter #744, and S.C.O.U.T., and the Polish Women’s Alliance of America. She enjoyed cooking, knitting and baking for her family.
Surviving are: 4 sons, N. Eugene (Ann) Slevinski, Pittsburgh, Pa., James (Marlene) Slevinski, Center Street Extension, Salamanca, New York, Donald Slevinski, Great Valley, New York, Robert (Vicki) Slevinski, Center Street Extension, Salamanca, New York; 7 grandchildren, Sarah Slevinski, Pittsburgh, Pa., Thomas Slevinski, Pittsburgh, Pa., Jennifer (Trevor) O’Neil, Salamanca, New York, Stephen Slevinski, Alden, New York, Joseph Slevinski, Samuel Slevinski, Cole Slevinski, all of Salamanca, New York; 2 sisters, Florence Woodarek, Salamanca, New York, Cecilia Prusinowski, Salamanca, New York; a brother, Henry (Elizabeth) Stefanski, Salamanca, New York.
She was predeceased by 4 sisters, Mary Pounds, Stella Meyers, Helen Ligouri, Frances Stefanski , 3 brothers, Edward Stefanski, Anthony Stefanski, and Joseph Stefanski.
Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M.
A Prayer Service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday morning at 10:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. in Our Lady of Peace Parish with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor, as celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.
The Rosary of Christian Hope will be recited in the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 8:30 P.M. by members of the Our Lady of Peace Parish Rosary Society. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Our Lady of Peace Parish Memorial Fund.
