Jason Cooper

Jason Cooper, 56, of Salamanca NY, died Friday, December 10, 2021 at home following a long illness.

Born April 8, 1965 in Salamanca, NY he was the son of the late Richard and Sylvia (Jones) Cooper.

He was an enrolled member of the Onondaga Nation and the Blue Heron Clan.

He was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1985 and attended North County Community College studying human services. He had also attended Genesee Community College for accounting.

Jason had been employed as a grant specialist with the Seneca Nation of Indians, Salamanca, NY as well as the Treasurer of AIRVFD.

He greatly enjoyed walleye fishing and he was a local lacrosse legend, but nothing came before his grandchildren.

Surviving are: a sister, Doreen Cooper; two sons, Chandler Cooper, Marcus Cooper; four daughters, Samantha Miller, Kayla Taylor, Cheylene Cooper, Jasona Cooper all of Salamanca, NY; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Watson Cooper and a sister, Lisa Cooper.

Funeral services were held at the family home Monday at 10am with members of the Coldspring Longhouse officiating.

Burial will be at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Steamburg, NY.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.
