Joanne E. Carnes

Joanne E. Carnes, 84, of Kill Buck, NY died Monday, October 23, 2023 at Olean General Hospital following a long illness.

Born November 20, 1938 in Salamanca, NY, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Mildred Pangborn Storey. She was married on October 13, 1965 in Salamanca to Roland “RC” Carnes, who predeceased her in 2013.

She attended Salamanca High School and had been employed with ACME Electric, Allegany and Cuba, NY for over 35 years, retiring in 1999.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, bowling in area leagues, listening to music, and dancing. She was also an avid Buffalo Bills and NASCAR fan.

Surviving are: a daughter, Kelli (Michael Manis) Carnes, Kennedy, NY; a son, Roland Carnes Jr., Great Valley, NY; five granddaughters, Madysen (Dylan Lanphere) Barber, Conewango Valley, NY, Mikhayla (Darius Turner) Barber, Fort Brag, NC, MacKenzey Meacham, Maria Joanne Meacham, Macey Meacham, all of Randolph, NY ; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three sisters, Dorothy Nash, Mildred Quattrone, infant Doris Storey, and four brothers, Ronald Storey, Howard Storey, Duane Storey, and Arthur Storey.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9pm.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 11am with Pastor Terry Davis officiating.

Burial will be in Green Cemetery, Great Valley, NY.
