Jody Sherwood

Mr. Jody Sherwood, 61, of Salamanca, NY died suddenly Sunday, August 20, 2017 at the Olean General Hospital.

Born January 27, 1956 in Cuba, NY, he was the son of the late Jess and Onalee Burrell Sherwood. He was married on October 1, 1993 to the former Jan C. Shauf, who predeceased him on June 23, 2015.

Mr. Sherwood received his Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing in Florida.

He had been employed with the Allegany Regional Developmental Corp in Salamanca, NY and was a family care provider for Joseph Overmoyer, Gary Fox, and John Bishop.

He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling, going to garage sales, and Sunday drives. He was a member of the NRA, NWTF, and the Salamanca Square Circle Club.

Surviving are: a daughter, Angela Sherwood, Salamanca, NY; 2 granddaughters, Brittany Holman, Cattaraugus, NY, Brooke Holman, Little Valley, NY; 2 sisters, Doreta Guthrie, Kitchner, Ontario, Judy Donovan, Wellsville, NY; 2 brothers, Jeff Sherwood, Salamanca, NY, Jerry (Kathy) Burrell, Halfmoon, NY; a nephew , David (Deborah) Cass, Friendship, NY; a great niece, Rebecca Cass, a great nephew, William Cass, both of Friendship, NY; several other nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Keith Sherwood.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 9 – 11 a.m., at which time funeral services will be held with Pastor DeForest Tennies, associate pastor of the Faith Lighthouse Chapel in East Randolph, NY.

Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Friendship, NY.
