Joseph Cole
Mr. Joseph A. Cole, age 84, formerly of 19 Academy Street, Salamanca, New York died on Monday evening, September 13, 2010 at The Absolut of Salamanca, Salamanca, New York.
Born on March 8, 1926 in Salamanca, New York he was the son of the late Frank & Edna Pavlock Cole. He was married in Randolph, New York on July 5, 1961 to the former Irene McCaa who predeceased him on November 8, 2005.
Mr. Cole was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in Key West, Fla. during WWII.
He was employed by the N.Y.S. Department of Transportation retiring in 1988. He had previously been employed as a bartender at the former Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1002 and Fancher Furniture Company.
Mr. Cole was a member of the Holy Cross Athletic Club and the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post #535.
Surviving are: 2 brothers, Frank Cole, Newbern, N.C., James Cole, 651 Wildwood Avenue, Salamanca, New York; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Cole.
There will be no visitation.
Funeral services will be held in the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Friday morning at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor of Our Lady of Peace Parish, officiating.
Burial will be in Green Cemetery, Great Valley, New York.
